When verification is required
Merchant verification and approval are required before program funding and reward card distribution features can be activated. Sending a store application starts a conversation; it does not complete KYB, create an approved program or authorize funding or card distribution.
By agreeing to these requirements in the store application, you agree to provide accurate information, cooperate with the required verification and keep relevant business information up to date. This agreement does not replace the merchant agreement or applicable program terms.
Who may be eligible
Eligibility depends on the company's country of formation and operation, legal form, business activities, intended recipients and the requirements of the applicable card program. Accepted countries, entity types and business categories are confirmed individually before activation.
You may enquire about your ecommerce business without assuming it is eligible. A country, industry or market listed in an enquiry form is not an approved program location or activity. Acceptance remains subject to the applicable issuing partner's requirements and written program terms.
Company information
Be prepared to provide information that identifies the legal business behind the store and allows the details to be checked against supporting records.
- Legal company name and any trading names used by the store.
- Company registration number, tax identifier, legal form and jurisdiction of formation.
- Registered address, operating address where different, and business contact details.
Owners, control person and authorized representative
We may request the identity of the individuals who ultimately own the business, directly or through other entities, a person responsible for controlling or managing it, and evidence that the applicant is authorized to act for the company. An ownership chart or additional supporting information may be needed for a more complex structure.
For context, the US FinCEN Customer Due Diligence rule for covered financial institutions generally identifies each individual with 25% or more direct or indirect ownership, if any, and one control person, subject to applicable exclusions and exemptions. Institutions may require information at a lower threshold. This is a regulatory reference, not a confirmed ownership threshold for your application; the applicable program requirements will be specified during verification.
Store and business activity checks
Provide the store website address and an accurate description of the products or services sold. The review may include how the store presents its business, customer contact information, sales terms and refund policies.
You may be asked to demonstrate the connection between the website and the company applying, including where the store trades under a different name. Disclose additional stores or materially different activities relevant to the proposed program.
Supporting documents
The required documents depend on the business, ownership structure and verification findings. The verification request will identify what is needed for your application; the examples below are not a universal mandatory checklist.
Provide documents through the designated secure verification process when requested. Do not send identity documents, tax records or bank documents with the initial public enquiry or by ordinary email.
- Company formation or registration records and tax registration documents.
- Identity documents for relevant owners, the control person or authorized representative.
- Proof of address, ownership records or evidence of authority to represent the company.
- Bank documents establishing the funding account and its connection to the business.
Program purpose and funding
Explain why you want to offer rewards, who is intended to receive them, which purchases or activities would qualify and the expected program volumes. Estimates should reflect the intended use rather than a commitment to a particular volume.
The review may require information about the source of program funds and verification of the account proposed for funding, including ownership or authority to use it. Permitted funding arrangements and any restrictions are established in the applicable program terms before activation.
Restricted activities and sanctions
The program must not be used for unlawful or deceptive activity, money laundering, sanctions evasion or transactions prohibited by applicable law. An activity being lawful does not by itself make it eligible: additional exclusions or approval requirements may apply under the issuing partner's program policy and will be communicated during review.
Sanctions review considers the business and relevant persons, including its ownership structure, not only whether the company name appears on a list. Under OFAC's 50 Percent Rule, an entity can be blocked because one or more blocked persons own it directly or indirectly by 50% or more in aggregate. Other applicable sanctions restrictions may also prevent participation.
Review and approval process
The process follows four stages: submit the requested information, undergo review, respond to any clarification or document requests, and receive a decision. Review timing depends on the application and the parties carrying out the checks; no fixed completion time is promised.
Registration, document submission and agreement to these requirements do not guarantee approval. Approval may be limited to a specific program, use, market or level of access. Funding and distribution remain unavailable until the relevant checks and approvals are complete.
Responsibilities after approval
Keep company and program information accurate and up to date. Notify us promptly of changes to ownership or control, legal or trading name, business activities, store ownership, contact information or the funding bank account, and before using changed details where the program requires prior approval.
Further information or renewed verification may be required. Access may be limited, suspended or withdrawn in accordance with applicable law and program terms if information cannot be verified, material changes are not approved or the business no longer meets the requirements.
How verification information is handled
Company and personal information is used to assess eligibility, verify identity and authority, review ownership and funding, prevent misuse, support ongoing reviews and meet applicable legal and program obligations.
Information may be shared as needed with verification and screening providers, issuing and banking partners involved in the applicable program, operational service providers, professional advisers and authorities where legally required or permitted. The Privacy Notice explains handling, retention and applicable privacy rights; the verification process may also provide relevant partner notices.
Agreeing to KYB requirements is not a marketing subscription and does not waive applicable privacy rights.
Questions, corrections and reconsideration
Contact our support team to clarify a requirement, correct application information or request reconsideration of a decision. Include your company name and application reference if you have one, without attaching sensitive verification documents. The team can explain the appropriate next step and document-submission channel.
A reconsideration request does not guarantee a different outcome or override legal restrictions or the responsible issuing partner's decision. Some review details may not be disclosed where law or security obligations restrict disclosure.
